WHS AND NHS students are invited to attend National Philanthropy Day
Conference hosted by the Association of Fund Raising
Professionals - Aloha Chapter on Friday, November 16, 2007 at
Sheraton Waikiki Hotel.
Valley of
Rainbows hosts students from the Wai'anae Coast (the only DOE
schools represented) each year: In 2006 Nanakuli HS -Rolando
Esparito and Joshua Machado and Kelsey Ichinose from Waianae HS
attended this day-long event. They were joined by 25 other
selected students from schools and college across Oahu because of
their incredible leadership, work, compassion and future plans to
serve and
help others. Ed Futa, Secretary General of Rotary
International shared his thoughts and lessons with the Young
Leaders.
The Association of
Fundraising Professionals (AF) is the professional association of
individuals responsible for generating philanthropic support for a
wide varierty of nonprofit, charitable organizations. AFP
fosters the development and growth of fundraising professionals,
promotes high ethical standards in the development profession and
preserves and enhances philanthropy and volunteerism. Valley
of Rainbows President, Denice Keliikoa is a CFRE member
(cfre.org) and is the Membrship Chair of AFP-Aloha
Chapter.
