Hanohano nä mamo i ka’u ‘ike

Honored are the children

Päpahi ‘ia ai e ka lehulehu

Cherished by the people

e ‘imi nä ‘ike ‘o ka Hawai’i

Go forth and seek the knowledge of your people

e inu mai i ka wai ‘awa’awa

and drink of the bitter waters

Mälama mau nä ‘ano ‘o nä Küpuna

Preserve forever the ways of our ancestors

i halihali ‘ia e kamakani kolonahe

that which were brought by a gentle wind

Pi’o mai ke ‘anuenue nou i uka

For you the rainbow arches in the uplands
